After a short time complete solution is obtained and stirring is then discontinued. The solution is allowed to stand overnight. The solution is diluted to 250 ml by the addition of methylene chloride and washed three times with 100 ml portions of water followed by two washes with 5% sodium bicarbonate solution. The organic layer is dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and filtered, the solvent being removed under diminished pressure.
